What is Miracle of Dogs About?

Almost 2 years ago, I started helping people whose dogs had behavior issues, and who also lived in my neighborhood. This became a part-time job for me. At the time, I was also in semiconductor manufacturing working 50+ hours/week as a chemical engineer. Despite some late hours, I found I loved working with these animals!

After several months of actively working with dogs and their owners, I realized that those who consistently practiced what I taught started gaining something more ‘big picture’ than getting their dog to ‘heal’ or ‘come’. It seemed to having something to do with how the relationship with their pet was evolving. This new relationship that I was becoming aware of, felt special to me. However, words didn’t immediately come describing why or how it was special.

As my own relationship with my dogs evolved, this feeling stayed with me and became more……felt. On the days when I was ‘in the zone’ walking my dogs or working with clients, I felt the feeling grow a little stronger. I didn’t realize it at the time, but the feeling was slowly turning into a realization. Something I was only dimly present to was slowly bringing the words to me to connect what I saw and felt during these moments.

Then one day, the piano finally fell on my head and I thought “Oh my God! Duh!” It is this moment, this realization that is the essence of the philosophy behind Miracle of Dogs.

After I clawed my way out from under the piano, I went home and…….took some Ibuprofen. Then I found a bag of ice and put it on my head. Then I had both of my dogs (Lazer and Tucker) lick me in the face a few times. The dogs suggested we all take a nap. In my role as Alpha, I decided to instead have all 3 of us do a 15 minute horizontal meditation, with our eyes closed.

When I woke up 4 hours later, I drew a picture represented by this figure

What I was seeing and experiencing with my clients and my dogs, was that the Human Beings began to feel less stress, and they felt calmer. In this state, their dogs became more balanced….

And when the dogs became more balanced, and as the humans were in the presence of their more balanced dog, they (the human) began to feel even more balanced.  They felt more of the love from their pet that was always there, and they felt more calm, centered, and aware….

And when the human became more balanced, the dog became more balanced….

And as the dog became more balanced, the human became even more balanced.

This cycle seemed to be eternal and continually reinforcing itself.

This observation led me to ask another question: how and why did dogs develop this ability to balance us? Of all the many animals in Nature, of all the type of pets that we can have, I have only seen and felt this kind of symbiotic relationship form between people and one kind of animal….the dog.

I am an engineer by education. However, I do not believe this question can be explained by Darwinism, or by mapping the entire genome of canis lupus familiaris. I’ve concluded (and believe) that dogs are a spiritual gift from Nature. They are here to help us become balanced human beings. They are healers, and are our more-than-willing servants. The fact dogs are here, and that we can develop this special relationship with them, is the miracle I call Miracle of Dogs.
